September 2017 – An open house for the Glendale Union High School District Online Learning Academy was held September 28 for parents, future families and students and the community to attend. The event showcased the programs and offerings available at the school.

The Online Learning Academy offers the same committed, rigorous academic expectations and curriculum as a traditional campus but flexibility for students who may want a nontraditional learning environment.

The Academy is located at 4530 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale and opened in August 2014. It currently serves full-time students at the campus and students in a full-time at-home model. At the Online Learning Academy, students attend four-hour sessions a day with one-on-one assistance available from teachers. Courses are available online 24/7. The school year is divided into four quarters.

Glendale Union Online students study from home for 30 hours a week and may come into the Academy for tutoring or small group sessions. A hybrid of the two models is also available to offer a wide selection of options to students.

Academic supports, including a full staff of teachers and a counselor, are available on site to assist students. The program is also accredited by AdvancED.

Helping students reach their full potential and graduate with a clear path and direction is a priority at Glendale Union and this practice exists at the Online Learning Academy as well. GUHSD is strongly committed to preparing students for college and careers and positioning them to be competitive in a global economy.
