December 2011 - Apollo English teacher and former Arizona Teacher of the Year Amanda McAdams continues to make a significant impact on students in her classroom and the greater educational community.
McAdams was recently appointed to Governor Jan Brewer's Arizona Ready Education Council, a re-vamped commission charged with improving the state of education in Arizona. McAdams is the only classroom teacher on the council. To read more about the council's goals and strategies, click

Also, McAdams recently visited Northern Arizona University's College of Education graduation ceremony, where she was both the Commencement speaker and recipient of an Honorary Doctorate. She was able to inspire the next generation of Arizona educators through her words and achievements.
Her alma mater, Utah State University, recently featured an
article on its website that recounts McAdams's journey to becoming a teacher.
McAdams previously was named the 2011 Arizona Teacher of the Year, among other points of recognition. Click
