MVHS NJROTC Team Headed to Competition in DC
May 2011 - After advancing through three phases of competition, the Moon Valley High School Navy JROTC (NJROTC) academic team composed of Cody Rocco, Dane Jones, Natasha Rodriguez, Christine Ellis and Logan Mellaci will compete in the final Championship round of The 2011 Navy JROTC Academic Championship in Washington D.C., on the campus of George Mason University, June 24 – 28, 2011. This event is sponsored by the Navy JROTC and conducted by College Options Foundation.
During two rounds of competitive online play, Moon Valley Navy JROTC team earned top scores out of the 225 teams that competed from across the world to win a place in the National Academic Bowl competition and the trip to DC. In these rounds, students were tested on standard high school curriculum including math, science and English. The team is one of only 4 Navy Academic Bowl teams in the nation to advance to the finals.
Air Force, Army and Navy JROTC winning teams will also compete in the newly established JROTC Tri-Service Academic Bowl Championship. This exciting new event will take place immediately following the Navy JROTC.
